Macochee Valley Folks |

This bluegrass gospel group was formed in the late 1950s.
The group recorded five albums and six singles and made
their music home in Wheeling, W.Va. Since then, the group
has moved to West Liberty in the Mac-O-Chee Valley, from
which the group took its name.
Their music features guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass, autoharp
and a close blend of three-part harmony. Their first album,
"Bluegrass in Ohio," was re-released in 2005 on CD.
Two new CDs were recorded in January 2007 and were released
in May of that year. The first, the gospel CD "The Church
Back Home," has pictorial views of Mt. Tabor Church, located
on state Route 245 in northern Salem Township. The other CD,
"Back Porch Pickin'," is a collection of old-time bluegrass
instrumentals.

Duke
Leisure Band |

2005 was the start of
what soon would become the Duke Leisure Band. After
years of writing and performing as a solo act, Duke was
looking for something more. Knowing in order to get his
music out of the song books and into the ears of
America, it was going to take more than a One Man - One
Guitar approach to get the sound he was looking for.
After learning of local musician Jason Cochenour, the
two arranged a meeting and set out to form a band.
Jason, a accomplished. Banjo and fiddle player was a
self taught instrumentalist with roots mostly formed
around traditional bluegrass. Always up for a challenge,
the two began performing as an acoustic act anywhere
they could find someone to listen. Not taking long to
realize the potential that lie in front of them. The
search was on for the third piece of the puzzle.
Jason knew of a
musician in the area who he thought would be a perfect
fit for joining the band. Stephen Hummel, a rounded
musician with many of the same musical influences,
joined the set one night and never left. His
accommodations to the many different styles and sounds
were exactly what the band needed. From his bluegrass
licks to his B Bender twang his talents are true. The
band was starting to take shape and the local scene was
starting to take notice.
Though there have been many players and fill ins come
and go throughout the years. The same three that started
the show are still on stage. 2011 marked the final
additions of Jermey Tackett on Upright Bass and the
flawless beats of Ryan Jessie on drums. The Duke Leisure
Band will take you on musical rollercoaster, displaying
a wide range of musical taste. The band brews a
signature blend of bluegrass and honky-Tonk that is sure
to satisfy.
The Duke Leisure Band is currently working on there
debut album. Check out

news.
